All of our tansu are unique. Most were made between 1870 and 1930. Each tansu is carefully and thoroughly restored. Our workshop in San Francisco employs twelve craftsmen who bring the beauty and functionality of antique tansu back to life.

Our extensive selection can accommodate a wide range of budgets. While we do carry exquisite museum quality items, many of our tansu are surprisingly affordable. ITEM OF THE MONTH
Kimono Dansu 

The Kimono Dansu was used primarily to store kimono's, obi's, and other clothing essentials. Made completely from Kiri wood this tansu is a traditional clothing chest from Japan.

Above we have K51A43. This tansu can be used to store a wide arrangements of clothing items. The shelves from the top section can be removed to store a TV or other electronic equipment like the one shown above. Made in the 1920's this two section Kimono Dansu is made completely from Kiri wood and is currently $1,250.

Quang Duc-Ngo

Our employee of the month this time around is Quang. He has been with Kiku Imports for fourteen years and has been an invaluable member of our carpentry team. Quang is not only an excellent carpenter, he is very attentive to the needs of our customers and is always helping people out with a smile. He is very thorough and detail-oriented, and his character is reflected in his works such as these: K210-E7, BPH9-E6, K210-A14.
