About Us
Kiku Imports has brought the beauty of Japanese furniture and antiques to appreciative customers in the U.S. and beyond since 1985. We specialize in Japanese furniture (tansu), and also carry a wide selection of antique folk crafts, lacquerware, textiles, dolls, ceramics, screens, scrolls, and basketry. As one of America's largest direct importers of antiques from Japan, Kiku Imports offers an impressive selection of beautiful items at very reasonable prices to both retail and wholesale customers.
All of our tansu are unique and were made between 1870 and 1930. Each piece has been carefully and thoroughly restored. Our workshop in San Francisco employs a team of dedicated craftsmen who bring the beauty and functionality of antique tansu back to life.
Our extensive selection can accommodate a wide range of budgets. While we do carry exquisite museum-quality items, many of our pieces are surprisingly affordable. Browse the site and check back frequently as the inventory is updated daily. Keep in mind that shipments from Japan arrive on a monthly basis. If you are in San Francisco, be sure to stop by our 10,000 square foot showroom and tansu warehouse.
Hours: Tuesday through Saturday from 10am - 6pm

Founder and owner, Akira Gomi, is also the sole buyer for Kiku Imports. His knowledge and expertise have enabled him to purchase the best pieces at the best prices since he began business in 1980.
Dividing his time between Japan and San Francisco, he travels to regional antique auctions throughout the Japanese countryside locating the many unique items that arrive monthly.

Business Manager, Sunny Otsuka, has been with Kiku Imports for over 10 years. He handles the day-to-day retail and wholesale operations of the business and has numerous years of industry experience.
