Product Description

This handsome bronze lion like figure is called komainu in Japanese, also know as lion dog in English, and dates the Late Showa period (1940's-present). Komainu meant to ward off evil spirits and used to guard gates at shrines and temples. Removable komainu or lion and a ball, in good condition. This is a very attractive object to look at and ideal for a display of curios.
