Unique Fukusuke doll dated early Meiji ( 1860-1880 ) is made of clay. Fukusuke is a name of successful merchant from Kyoto in Edo era  and this dolls are believed to make businesses prosperous in Japan. Prominent characteristic of this doll is his ears are big and plump which is known for bringing good luck and they always wear traditional kimono with accessories. As you see from the photos, old Fukusuke looks more serious than modern whimsical ones which makes it more meaningful. This auspicious doll will be perfect accent in home decor.
