Incredible Japanese antique Senju Kannon statue of the supreme Buddhist deity of mercy and compassion.    Deep swirling carving halos the sublime stance of the deity in repose.  The modeling of the face is extraordinary, as is the feeling of grace given to each of the many hands in manifold positions.  Allover gilt reminds us that gold is the flesh of the gods, while certain highlights are brought out with delicate polychrome painting.  A commanding example at over 40-inches high, this reminder to humanity to practice ever more compassion to each other, is perfect for a dramatic entry space, or dining room, or corner of the living room.  This piece is in very fine condition, considering its age.
