Stellar ando shippo yaki cloisonné vase with classic chrysanthemum decoration.  A turquoise fretwork background offsets the striking colors of the flowers in pink and dark blue.  Around the color runs an informal and free arabesque of light blue flowers on a white ground.  This piece shows off the enameller’s art to the fullest in a form only a little over 6-inches high.  In excellent condition this vessel needs only a light spray foliage to show it at its best.  The vase is unsigned.
