Product Description

Incredible gold and black lacquer offering table.  This museum quality piece is stunning.  Dating to the late 18th century, the contemporary look and feel of this piece reminds one just how timeless the best of Japanese design truly is.  This table was originally made for a special occasion, like a wedding, and clearly for a very high-class person.  The decoration technique is called makie/chinkin, and exhibits all the skill of the lacquer’s art. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maki-e  This piece is in excellent condition.
