Product Description

This Japanese antique Mizuya Tansu is from the Taisho period (1910's-1920's). The elegant color tones of this tansu come from the Sugi (Cedar) and Hinoki (Cypress) woods. Cypress and Cedar are common base woods for a Mizuya Dansu since they are hard woods that don’t crack, scratch or warp and also dry quickly if it gets wet. Most kitchen chests will not have locks and will have a combination of sliding doors and drawers. Since this Mizuya has many types of drawers and cabinets, it is very useful for today’s modern kitchen to store dishes and utensils.
