Product Description

This lovely Isho tansu (clothing chest) is from the Middle Meiji period (1880's-1890's). The wood used in this tansu is Kiri (Paulownia)Traditionally, all clothing were folded and placed in drawers before the influence of the west.  Therefore, many clothing chests are made mostly of drawers. This Japanese antique Tansu works wonderfully to store your clothing or bedding because of its many deep drawers.  The design is unique with dark drawer pulls and metalwork which contrasts nicely against the Kiri wood of the chest.  This is a great addition to your bedroom, for displaying flower arrangements or artwork, or in the living room for additional storage.
