Product Description

This Japanese antique Mizuya  is from the Taisho period (1910's-1920's). The rich accents and subtle beauty of this tansu comes from the combination of Hinoki (Cypress), Sugi (Cedar) and Kaki (Persimmon)woods. Cypress wood is commonly used for its beautiful golden brown hues and its clean grain that makes it appealing for furniture and design accents. Persimmon wood is a hard wood that is quite stunning especially when there is a strong contrast between the dark and gold colors of the grain. Mizuya Tansu was most likely used in the kitchen of a Japanese household for the storage of plates, utensils and food items. Since this chest has many types of drawers and cabinets, it is very useful for today’s modern kitchen to store dishes and utensils.
