This japanese antique, Ko Tansu, small chest is from the Late Meiji period (1890's-1910's).The wood used in this tansu is Kiri (Paulownia). Kiri wood is very light, fine-grained, soft, warp-resistant and has a high ignition point, which makes it ideal for clothing chests. This Ko tansu has a combination of sliding doors and drawers which allowed for various types of storage. The compact size and combination of drawers makes this piece a great addition for a desk, living room, or anyplace that needs a small piece to add interest and store your various accessories!
