    Product Description

This is an antique Japanese 2 section kitchen chest called Kyoto Mizuya tansu.  It is a rare large size and it was constructed out of Cypress (Hinoki) and Cryptomeria (Suginoki) woods.

Originally used in the kitchen of a Japanese country inn called Ryokan, it was used to store large jars of water as well as cooking utensils and tools in the bottom drawers.
