Product Description

This is a 2 section Kannon Biraki Tansu, or wedding kimono chest featuring double hinged doors.  It originated from the mid-Meiji period (1880's-1890's).

Made entirely of Paulownia (Kirinoki) wood, it features original hand made iron fittings.  As an added bonus, there is a secret compartment behind the small bottom drawer of the bottom section, presumably for hiding special mementos, jewelry or money.
