Product Description

This is a Japanese antique 2 section merchant store display chest called Kazari Mizuya tansu.  Used to display shop wares it features sliding glass doors to showcase collections of all sorts.  The row of bottom drawers was used to store additional inventory.

It was made out of Cypress (Hinoki) and Cryptomeria (Suginoki) woods while the drawer fronts were made from Zelkova (Keyaki) wood.  Its age is from 1900 to 1910 (late Meiji era).
