Product Description

This is an antique Japanese 2 section lacquer Kasane Tansu. The tansu front is made of Chestnut (Kurinoki) wood that was finished in a natural Urushi lacquer to reveal the beautiful wood grain.  The beautiful lock plates feature a Kamon, family crest. The tansu case was finished using a wiped lacquer technique and the case and drawer backs were made using Cryptomeria (Suginoki) wood.  Originally used for kimono storage, it would make a great contemporary dresser or linen cabinet.

Each section can be used separately for versatility or stacked together to save space.  Each section has carrying handles to easily move from place to place.
