Product Description

This is a 2 section antique Japanese stacking chest called Kiri Kasane Tansu. It is made entirely of Kirinoki (Paulownia) wood.  Originally used for kimono storage, it would make a great contemporary dresser or linen cabinet.

Each section can be used separately for versatility or stacked together to save space.  Each section has carrying handles to easily move from place to place.

It has unique metalwork shaped in the form of a Fukura Suzume which is a family crest and it means chubby sparrow. This means that during winter, a sparrow gets fluffed up to stay warm.
