17A141 Woodblock Map in Japan 1848 / SOLD

This is an antique Japanese woodblock printed book called "Dai Nippon Hayahiki Saiken Ezu" dated Kaei Gannen(1848).

This map can be open to see full map but can be folded so it is easy to carry while traveling. It is published by Ezuya Shohachi who has a bookstore in front of famous Buddha in Nara. 

The map covers the area from Hokkaido to Kyushu and addition to main 5 routes, there are many other roads written. For visitors to temple and shrine, also for pilgrim's journey, it shows those routes and post towns. 

Because it has been folded for a long time, the folded areas have wear and there are some patina and small holes  ut considering its age and use, it is in a good condition.
