17A5 Lacquer Ko Tansu Small Chest of Drawers Box

This is a vintage Japanese personal lacquer storage chest called Ko Tansu.  It was used to store letters, documents, books and other items for daily use.  Every drawer is decorated with Kiri motif in silver and gold and beautiful Nashiji lacquer on the frame. 

There are some chips around the edges and splits inside of drawers. 

Contemporary uses for this piece include placement on a desk for additional office storage or using this as an elegant side table.
