Product Description
This is a vintage Japanese Mirror box with drawers, vanity, Kyodai made of Hakone Zaiku crafts of marquetry (called Yosegi) from mid.1900's.
The technique of the Yosegi geometric pattern was made using solid blocks of elongated wood that were glued and bundled together into a larger block whose end pattern looks identical to the design shown on the box. Once the glue is dried, the artist would wood plane a layer of the pattern and incorporate it on the exterior of the box cover.
Some designs came off ( coming off ) and have splits.
It measures that W 20.32, D 13.97, H 15.5 cm (W 8, D 5.5, H 6.125 inches)
